Description:

Enamel sign / Porcelain sign, convex, thickly stenciled, also lithographed, Fribourg/CH c. 1905, 51 x 75 cm, Eisenwerke Gaggenau A.G. Gaggenau i/Baden, a monumental masterpiece by the Swiss artist Emil Cardinaux, whom we would like to portray in more detail on the opposite pages. The scenery is stylized and yet picturesque - in a snowy landscape a fox sits waiting in front of a tree full of ravens - it is by no means the birds he is after - much more he has his eye on the chocolate package one of the ravens is carrying in its beak. It is one of those signs that you think you will never get to see, never be allowed to touch, let alone ever be able to call your own. Accordingly, it is our greatest pleasure to offer you this special rarity, in a quality that seems fabulous, gloss and colors are wonderfully preserved, scratches are almost in vain, only the upper right corner has small, ancient mounting damage - and yet the sign must have hung exposed for decades, because a barely visible, minimal lime trace above the right rim testifies to a "life" in the wild. In the future, it will certainly illuminate the walls of an enviable collector.

  • Emailschild, gewölbt, dick schabloniert, zudem lithographiert, Fribourg/CH um 1905, 51 x 75 cm, Eisenwerke Gaggenau A.G.
