Description:

This is Glennon “Glenn” Kingsley’s Silver Snoopy Award. This was the first Silver Snoopy Award ever to be awarded to a NASA space worker! It was awarded on June 6th 1968 at the Marshal Space Flight Center in a ceremony honoring the Test Astronauts of the LTA-8 Lunar Module Vacuum Chamber Test. There were 4 pins awarded that day with Astronaut Jim Irwin receiving the first pin, Grumman Test Pilot Glennon Kingsley receiving the second pin being the first space worker to ever receive a Silver Snoopy followed by his friend Grumman Test pilot Gerald Gibson who received the third Snoopy Award and the final award given that day was awarded to Joe Gagliano of the Manned Spacecraft Center. This is a truly historic item and comes with the original award letter hand signed by Eugene Horton, the Chief of Manned Flight Awareness Office. Also included are three original NASA numbered photographs showing the pins being awarded by Deke Slayton Head of the Astronaut Office. This is a true one of a kind offering.
