Flown and recovered section of parachute from the Mercury Atlas 5 space flight of Enos, the Space Chimp. This item comes with full provenance from Ken Havekotte. This section of Flown parachute is in excellent condition. It is accompanied by three 8" x 10" photographs. The first photograph is a orbital photograph from the Mercury Atlas 5 mission. The second photograph is numbered NASA 61-MA5-27 and is of the Mercury Spacecraft being hoisted to the deck of the USS Stormes. The third photograph was taken November 29, 1961 and shows 5 1/2 year old Enos being transferred in his pressurized couch. The Western Union Press Release page is from Mary E. Bubb and in her handwriting as she was reporting in "real time" November 29, 1961 from Cape's Press Site #2. All the photographs are in excellent condition with photograph NASA 61-MA5-13 that has a sticker and minor edge tear. The Western Union Press Release page is in excellent condition with light toning and has been folded. The photographs all measure 8" x 10" with NASA informative text on the reverse side of two.
