Our 45th poster auction will be held on April 28, 2018. The auction features 358 beautiful poster lots related to Travel & Sports, Work Incentive, Military & Propaganda, Advertising, Art, Design and Entertainment.

The sale will begin with 98 ADVERTISING posters from the 1880s through the 1980s followed by a selection of items related to ENTERTAINMENT, MODERN ART & DESIGN, FILM and MUSIC. A group of twelve 1920s MATHER WORK INCENTIVE posters precedes a collection of European and American MILITARY & PROPAGANDA posters from World Wars I & II. The sale concludes with a selection of 130 TRAVEL, SPORTS & TOURISM posters.

Among the auction’s advertising highlights are an exceptionally rare Ludwig Hohlwein poster from 1914 titled Tekrum (lot 19), the 4-sheet version Raymond Savignac’s arguably most famous work, Monsavon au Lait (lot 23), and a 1949 billboard poster for Coca-Cola (lot 36). The art & entertainment section includes the large version of Jules Cheret’s 1890 poster Moulin Rouge - Paris-Cancan (lot 111), Daniel de Losques’ poster La Dame de Chez Maxim's (lot 112), Jupp Wiertz’s Libelle from 1919 (lot 116) and an outstanding example of Walter Schnackenberg’s Peter Pathe – Maria Hagen (lot 117).  The propaganda collection features classics such as August William Hutaf’s Join the Tanks (lot 193), Glenn Grohe’s He’s Watching You (lot 214) and Abram Games’ rare Your Talk May Kill Your Comrades (lot 220). Among the travel highlights are the two official 1936 Olympic Games posters (lots 235 and 236), Herbert Matter’s All roads lead to Switzerland (lot 257), Otto Baumberger’s Riunione Aviatoria from 1937 (lot 258), and an early example of Maurice Logan’s artwork for Southern Pacific in the 1923 poster for Lake Tahoe (lot 338).
