Description:

Intricate applied relief in cobalt, umber, pearl blue and white.
An early piece by the acclaimed John Broad, often considered second only to George Tinworth in his time. The fountain shape, a favorite of the artist, is glazed within a water-like mottling of deep blue, and decorated about in two cherubs and intricate, organic patterns evoking the roman grottos. Marked and dated on the bottom by artist- also includes initials FC, likely senior assistant Fanny Clark.
