题跋：白石老人此作极具大师风范，颇有个性并中国绘画之新风真乃艺林之瑰宝后学之典范得者宜藏也。黄观东题(观东) 齐白石画鱼比画虾、画蟹更加写意，因鱼与人的关系较虾蟹更密切，有着“无常形有常理的特点”易于把握。九鱼，即“九如”，是佛家用语。 “有九如法住自恣。
何谓九不如法住自恣？谓住无根破戒作不作。无根破见无根破威仪亦如是。反上为九如法住自恣。”
此画每条鱼墨色浓淡变化。其间交错杂处，别具匠心。齐白石画的鱼，并没有画一滴水，或者是水草却给人一种在水中游动的感觉。
