  • Provenance: Letter Reads as follows: My mother, Patty Lawrence, worked for Mrs. Harvey Firestone from 1982 through 1993. She was one of Mrs. Firestone’s personal assistant and (administrative) secretary at the Fire storm home on Twin Oaks Drive in Akron Ohio. Mrs. Firestone was a proficient collector and supporter of the arts as well as a musician herself. Mrs. Firestone purchased and sold many valuable items in her collections from Christie’s and other auction houses worldwide. After Mrs. Firestone’s passing in 1991, Mrs. Lawrence worked with members of the family and other staff member s to liquidate or donate to museums and universities many of the items remaining in Mrs. Harvey Firestones Estate/ this manuscript autograph was given to Mrs. Lawrence by Martha Ford, Mrs. Firestone’s daughter and executor of her estate. They do not know where Mrs. Firestone acquired it. It was most likely purchased from Brentano’s of New York City, a very well-known and respectable rare book company in the 70’s. This is because of the paper notation by Laurence Gomme that was found inside the custom finding. Mrs. Ford also believed this is how it was it was acquired. This is the extent of our know provenance . Jeffery P. Lawrence 3/6/23
