  • Description: Handwritten Civil War letter from E. Hankins to Dear wife, Emiline, March 14th, 1862, before the battle of Shiloh. The writer sends $10 for a debt with promise of more, requests stamps as he cannot get them where he is, and reports that his location is south of Nashville. The letter is written on letterhead of Gen. McClellan, with a small drawing of the general, and is filled in as being from Co. A, 6th Regiment Indiana Volunteers at Camp Johnston.
