This Highwaymen work features expressive brushwork and atmospheric color, capturing the spirit and natural beauty of the Indian River region. Newton, one of the most prominent figures among the Florida Highwaymen, was notably influenced by Albert "Beanie" Backus (1906-1990), founder of the Indian River School. Signed lower right. Housed in a period cypress-style frame.
