Cape Cod Museum of Art’s Re-imagined Gala Auction Event in the Age of Covid-19. Auction Will Run from July 20 – August 15, 2020, culminating with the LIVE Online Auction starting at 7 pm on August 15. Absentee Bidding Available. The Cape Cod Museum of Art is excited to present fabulous works of art and memorable experiences in a fresh approach to our summer fundraising auction for 2020. “Our enthusiasm could not be greater; it will be so much fun to explore and bid on the wonderful art we've acquired for this event by so many well-respected artists, as well as the many ‘experience’ items that are being offered,” says Kenneth Hawkey, CCMoA Trustee and Auction Committee Chair. “We are especially delighted to be offering the thrill of bidding through an on-line auction platform with an international audience this year, expanding our reach and name recognition around the world.” The Museum’s annual event brings the Cape Cod community together to support the work and mission of the museum, its educational programs, its growing collection of art and its sculpture garden, always open to the public. This year’s auction is billed as “Celebrating the Tree of Life” after the Museum’s recent acquisition of a 50-year old multi-tiled ceramic relief sculpture by the Museum’s founder Harry Holl originally commissioned for a home in the US Virgin Islands. The magnificent relief sculpture was donated by a local collector from Truro. “In this unique time in history, The Tree of Life represents the Museum and what it offers to our Cape Cod Community. It honors Harry’s vision of building a place on Cape Cod to securely house, display, and to help interpret the art created in this special place for the betterment of our community,” said Benton Jones, Director of Art at the CCMoA. This year, the museum is partnering with the esteemed Eldred’s Auction Gallery and their Invaluable.com platform, which means the 2020 Cape Cod Museum of Art Auction will be an international on-line event! The Museum’s Event Coordinator, Judy Edmunds commented, “Instead of the usual big tent on the grounds of the Cape Cod Museum of Art, this year’s Annual Art Auction will be held on-line, allowing all of us to maintain social distancing while enjoying the thrill of bidding on some outstanding art, art objects and experiences, keeping the Museum vital and growing.” Artwork by Marieluise Hutchinson Jim Holland, Robert Douglas Hunter, Sam Feinstein, Suzanne Packer, Rowland Sherman, Paul Schulenburg and Kenneth Hawkey will be included, to name just a few of the respected artists of local, national and international renown. Also available will be pottery, jewelry, and fine dining experiences, a bed and breakfast stay, gift certificates and many other featured items donated by Cape Cod businesses. The Museum’s staff, Trustees, volunteers and the many artists who are supporting this event will be deeply honored to welcome your participation in this major, important fund raiser for the Museum, especially during these challenging times. Bid on-line from July 20 to August 15, with final bidding LIVE with John Terrio starting at 7 pm, Saturday, August 15, 2020.
